1. From
Idea to Investment
This workshop is designed for participants who have a serious interest in starting a scalable business – a business which can grow to a significant size. It will be especially useful for participants who are interested in seeking venture funding for their business. This is not just a course about “how to write a business plan” – it is an intensive, hands-on, workshop, in which participants will develop their business ideas into an actual business plan which they will be able to present to potential venture investors.
Participants can come into the workshop with a business idea that they want to develop in a business plan or we will help them develop an idea in the first session. They will complete course pre-work, in which they describe the key elements of their business idea and which will be reviewed by the workshop facilitator before the workshop commences.
This workshop will also include a special session on presenting to investors, followed by each participant presenting to a panel of investors.
2.
Creating and Marketing Innovative Products: From Concept to
Commercialization
It is becoming increasingly obvious that innovation is one of the most important keys to business success in the knowledge-based economy. The ever-increasing rate of technological change is resulting in shorter and shorter product cycles, which drives companies toward continuous innovation. But innovation is not something that just happens on its own. It requires special expertise, work practices and methodologies that are not yet widely adopted.
3. Entrepreneurial
finance: Raising investment and managing money for start-up
companies
Entrepreneurs become participants in two types of markets when they start their company - the market for their product or service and the financial markets. Managing the finances of a start-up company can be extremely challenging but is critical for success - in fact the most common reason that new businesses fail is insufficient cash flow. Raising money to fund a new venture is a key step on the road to building successful business.
4. Pitching
to investors
Almost every important deal ultimately comes down to a presentation. The presentation is where you make the sale and you only have one chance to get it right. The audience for your presentation ultimately decides, but you can make the difference by delivering an effective presentation. Unfortunately, many presentations, both written and verbal, are much less effective than they could be.
